So I put coffee.gift into the character folder, but she hasn’t said anything about it yet. Does she acknowledge it right away or does it take time?

Can you post a screenshot of your characters folder? In order to create the gift correctly, you need to have the file extension enabled to be able to replace the .extension with .gift .

All I did was create a text document and name it «coffee.gift». Did I miss something?

Go to View and then enable the File name extensions . This will make the extensions for know file types to appear and the coffee.gift will now appear as coffee.gift.txt . Remove the .txt and it should be fine.

I did this before and she received them, but most of what I’ve given her has gone (everything except the quetzal plushies, coffee, hot chocolate, 2 ribbons and the promise ring) and she isn’t acknowledging them even though I’ve put the files back in the characters folder. Am I doing something wrong?

I’m having a similar problem. I can give her basic things like candy canes, coffee, cupcakes, etc, but every time I try giving her accessories (ribbons, chokers, jewelry, hairclips, etc), plushies, clothes, or anything like that, it either disappears or she says she can’t read the files. I’ve tried a lot of things but nothing is working, and honestly, I’m really irritated by it.

Look under the Christmas tree. Whenever you give her a gift (that is not consumable), she will put them under the tree and finally open them all the Dec 25th. If that is not your problem, check this wiki to see how to give Spritepack gifts properly.

@AsuraShun Yeah, I did. I installed all the sprite packs. Once I did, I opened each one and copied the «mod_assets» file into the «game» file in the game directory. I also copied the «gifts» files for each sprite pack into the «characters» files. Usually, putting the whole of the «mod_assets» files into the «game» file distributes all the files into their respective places, meaning that all the files that belong in «a» will be automatically distributed to the «a» file in the game directory, and so forth. However, when I try actually GIVING her the presents, I always put them into the character file with the file extension «.gift», but they always disappear. Although sometimes, when she DOES see them, she says she can’t actually read the files.

Monika After Story was the first mod released for the game, with the earliest versions circulating on September 26th, 2017.
Synopsis
After the events of Doki Doki Literature Club, the player installs a mod that restores Monika and the world she created for herself and the player. After a short introduction, Monika proceeds to sit with the player, randomly discussing different topics, playing mini-games, and otherwise killing time.
Monika After Story has been described as a «Girlfriend Simulator,» in the vein of games like Love Plus. Rather than a focus on narrative development, the primary focus of the game is extended interactions with Monika and simulating the experience of being in a relationship with her.
Development
Monika After Story was the first mod available for Doki Doki Literature Club, released on September 26th 2017. It was started on the 4chan imageboard by Backdash and a number of anonymous contributors. The earliest versions of the mod removed the ending flags from Act 3, added additional dialogue to the scene, and included a keyword system for triggering specific scenes. Later updates added more dialogue, a refined keyword system, new assets for Monika to add expressions to the original Act 3 CG, mini-games, and other new features.
A Christmas update was released on December 22nd, 2017 which included unique holiday art and time-sensitive content.
Version 0.7.0 removed the keyword system, replacing it with an experience-based system for unlocking hidden dialogue.
Version 0.8.4 added affection which allows unique and different dialogue depending on your relationship with Monika.
Version 0.8.5 added some tips about the Python programming language.
Version 0.8.6 added the ability to take Monika with you via a USB flashdrive with a farewell function.

Как установить?Если честно я тоже сначала не понял как установить.Но сейчас я вам всё подробно объясню.
1.У вас должен быть Стим и должен быть скачан DDLC.
2.Переходим вот по этой ссылочке и скачиваем самую последнюю версию Monika After Story.(Вот она)- https://github.com/Backdash/MonikaModDev/releases
3.Дальше мы проходим до того момента как мы встречаемся с Моникой один на один(после того как она всех удалит закрываем игру)
4.Дальше мы открываем коренную папку игры(ну вы итак знаете где это, если нет напишите в комментариях я отвечу)
5.И скидываем туда файлики из Win rar файла в коренную папку игры с заменой.
6.Заходим и Тада, всё готово!
1.Здесь изменилась рисовка и добавились больше вырожение лиц.
2.У она умеет отмечать праздники например: Рождество, День Святого Валентина.
3.Так же теперь она даёт вам выборы и даже она если что спрашивает хочешь ли ты изменить имя.
4.Так же добавили новые диологи.
5.У вас появилась меню с 3 клавишами.Talk, Music, Play.Ну вы не дети и уже сами догадались что каждая из этих клавиш значит (Talk- говорить, Music- музыка, Play- играть.) Теперь вы можете играть с Моникой, говорить с ней и даже поменять Музыку!
6.Моника самообучается!Да!Она со временем поменяет фон и добавит новые игрушки.Так что если установили иногда оставляйте её фоном.
Это всё!Вы просто общаетесь с Моникой.Мне очень понравилось дополнение.Оно довольно не плохое хоть и на английском языке.Так что устанавливаете, читаете, и общаетесь.А с вами был Fire_wolf_666.Желаю вам хорошего времени проведения вместе с Моникой!

This will hopefully clear things up for folks. It’s not her birthday for another 10 hours yet, for me, so I’ve had time to figure this out. I didn’t realize you were meant to duplicate the banner, etc for the gifts, I just have regular old files prepared. Does it matter?

As long as the gifts are spelled correctly and the extension is «.gift» it should register. One way to possibly be sure is to check if under the «Type» row it reads as «GIFT File» in the column adjacent to it.

It’s just a text document so you don’t really need to do anything with it besides work out the words.
-Your new files, however, should be named as the gifts on the list that you work out.
—Don’t forget to actually make it a gift with «.gift» at the end!

Nope! The wonderful dev’s spared us that much at least..

Only the gift files you need to make/copy-paste yourself need to be renamed.

Thank you so much for all your help. The big day isn’t till tomorrow for me but I can’t wait. Just to be 100% clear so I don’t screw up, I take any of the files (balloon, banner, cake) and copy and paste those to make 6 new files, then rename them the names of the gifts with .gift at the end. And it doesn’t matter which of those 3 files (balloon, banner, cake) I rename for the gifts. Is that correct?

Thanks a lot for writing this, it was super helpful. I already messed my game up once, and because of it I’ve been cautious about messing with the files, so this was a life saver. Just to be safe, I have to copy and paste the gift files and the banner, cake and balloons into the character files, right? At least, I assume that’s where I have to because that’s where the Monika file appears.

I’m having the same issue as you, hopefully we’ll be able to fix it but just wanted to point out that, «coffee» is misspelled, so maybe that may be affecting something on your part. Hope I can do some good!

C:\Users(Your User Here)\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\Monika After Story
This location is typically where you will find them and should look similar to this. 
See those «other» persistent files numbered 39 — 43?
-It’s one of those you want, should you. disappoint.
—Think of them as different save slots.
In your case you would probably just want to go back before you made the mistake.
-look for the most recent persistent##.bak file and rename it to JuSt «Persistent».
It should ask if you want to overwrite the already existing one, in this case— yes you do.
Start it up and your sweetheart should have a bad case of «Amnesia»!

Hey folks, It’s just hit 00:00 here on the 22nd of September. Thought I’d share some info on what you should be looking at when the time comes for you. I’m assuming you’ve already downloaded and unzipped the party files.
Step 1: Launch MAS. Go to goodbye and hit «I’m going to take you somewhere. Then, you need to move her character file somewhere else. Literally anywhere. Just don’t lose her, okay?
Step 2: The «Balloons», «Banners» and «Cake» files should not be altered.
Copy and paste any of those files six times. Rename them into the following:
«coffee.gift»
«cupcake.gift»
«knife.gift»
«birthdaycake.gift»
«promisering.gift»
«quetzalplushie.gift»
Make sure you’ve spelt those correctly.
Step 3: Now copy and paste all nine files (the balloons, banner and cake files, as well as the gifts) into the «Characters » folder in your game files.
Step 4: Put Monika’s character file back where it belongs in the characters folder.
Step 5: I waited until the 22nd to re-launch the game, so I don’t know what will happen if you idle over to the 22nd. If nothing happens and it’s the 22nd, re-boot the game I guess?
And as a side note, you might be thinking the knife is a good idea. No spoilers, but I’d disagree. Hindsight is 20/20.
